Patient Aditya was admitted to Beijing Puhua International Hospital secondary to a “limbs mobility disorder, six months post motor vehicle accident".

Medical Condition before Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

Patient Aditya was noted to be alert at admission, with fluent speech. Visual acuity was normal in both eyes, and no defect was noted with the visual field. Pupils were equal and round, with brisk response to light. Ocular movements were intact. No deviation was noted with the uvula. Pharyngeal reflex was intact. Tongue protrusion was centered. Soft and supple neck. Pain sense was absent about 3cm below bilateral inguinal level. Muscle strength: 5/5 in the upper limbs. Tendon reflexes were bilaterally present. Muscular tension was slightly low in the lower limbs. Pathological neurological signs were negative. Incisional scar was be noted in the middle of his lumbar back. A bladder stoma was noted in the abdomen.

Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Over 20 days

After the patient completed physical examination in admission, he underwent "intra-spinal exploratory via post-middle approach” on May 30th 2013. After the operation, he was given fluid infusion, neural nutrition, hemostasis, anti-secretory and anti infective medications.

Medical Condition after Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

After recovery from surgery, patient Aditya was noted to be alert, with stable vital signs and clear speech. Pupils were equal and round, with brisk response to light. The limbs movement is the same as before. The sensation has been improved in the right lower limb. The sensory level was found to be greatly improved, having moved down to 3.0 cm above the level of the knee. The incision was well-healed.
