Name: Jenyce Dawn Booth
Diagnosis: Osteoarthritis of Knee
D.O.B: 01 января 1947
Gender: Female
Country: Australia

Treatment: Regenerative Stem Cell Treatment for Knee, using Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSCs)

HISTORY

The patient was admitted to Beijing Puhua International Hospital due to pain in the right knee, with recent limitation of activity. Incidentally, her husband also recently received stem cell treatment for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at Beijing Puhua International Hospital.

Medical Condition before Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for Osteoarthritis of Knee

At the time of admission, the patient was only able to do about half of her usual work and activity. X-ray revealed right knee osteoarthritis. MRI of the right knee showed damage and deficiency of the lining cartilage. Physical Examination: She was evaluated by Regenerative Medical Specialist Dr. Jay Pak, Seoul, Korea, and Dr. James Quinlan, USA, Senior Staff of the Regenerative Medicine Department. She experienced some difficulty during active and passive examination of the right knee due to pain.

Stem Cell Treatment for Osteoarthritis of the Knee

After admission, the patient was enrolled in the ongoing International Collaborative Study of Drs. Pak & Quinlan using autologous (self-derived), Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSCs)(approximately 100 million cells) obtained by the usual & standard methods: local anesthesia prior to liposuction followed by refinement of ADSCs from the lipid tissue in the Cell Lab. Platelet Rich Plasma was derived from 35 cc of her blood. The ADSCs and PRP were mixed with hyaluronic acid and platelet activators (per the protocol developed by Dr. Pak) and injected into the right knee joint-space.  The patient received consolidating PRP/hyaluronic acid injections in follow-up.

Medical condition after Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for Osteoarthritis of Knee

After her Regenerative Medicine treatment using the Pak technique to treat her Osteoarthritis of the right Knee, the patient’s condition began to improve rather quickly. She began to experience relief from pain and began to be able to walk longer distances with greater comfort. She began to rest better and was soon able to do usual work without any limitation. Based upon the solid data from the previous 1,000 patients in this Study, her condition is expected to continue to improve over the next several months, as new hyaline cartilage is elaborated by the healing stem cells. She will submit the results of her 3-month follow-up MRI from Australia.

Variations of the Pak method are also be used to treat hip disease, including Avascular Necrosis, which has been extremely difficult to manage before these new methods. For further information or inquiries, please write us at info@puhuachina.com.
